I would like to start my post by saying Happy 1-year Anniversary to this amazing couple. On Monday they will have been married a year and I can’t think of a better time to write about their gorgeous day. I understand that planning for a wedding is still very uncertain presently, but I always stay positive and look forward to the day that we can have celebrations on a larger scale again. Small intimate weddings are just as special though and can actually have a bigger impact on the couple’s day having just their loved ones present.
Hannah, Ben and I went to school together, so it was such an honour being asked to be the wedding planner for their wedding day. I always thought that planning a friend’s wedding would be easier, but I was so wrong, (even though Hannah was the most chilled out bride EVER)! I put more pressure on myself to make it run as smoothly as I could. I class everyone I meet, including my clients as friends, so from the minute I start working with them, to the minute the very last supplier has finished at the venue, I strive to make my services the best for all my clients and their special day.
I was wedding coordinator on the day of the wedding, this meant that I was the first one up and the last one to finish, to make sure that the couple and their families had nothing to worry or stress about on the day, all the attention was on Hannah and Ben. My day started early that morning when I arrived at the venue to receive the many deliveries that were being made ready for the wedding.
The venue was the beautiful Compleat Angler in Marlow, situated on the riverbank overlooking the Thames and iconic Marlow Bridge and All Saints Church. The staff were amazing and helped make sure everything was perfect. I find it very hard at times as a wedding planner, with some venues having a planning team in place already – this was not the case, they were helpful, friendly and went above and beyond to enable me to make the day a huge success.
I met with Hannah a couple of times throughout the wedding planning process, she basically had everything under control, but needed help with the intricate details and one very big job – the flowers! I contacted my very good friend Janet who works in the industry and who does beautiful flower displays, we worked together with Hannah and Ben to decide on their dream center pieces, bridesmaid flowers, buttonholes and of course the bridal bouquet.
When organizing floral displays, I always ask my couples to get quotes for extra flowers, so that I can scatter the extra around the venue, which brings the whole theme together. The sea of blue hydrangeas and pale pink roses and lisanthus made the beautiful modern room pop with colour, with a feel of class and sophistication. The flower wall supplied by Blooming Fabulous Flowers sat behind the top table, ready to be the perfect backdrop to the Bride and Groom at the wedding breakfast.
The wedding ceremony took place at All Saints Church on the river – the service was so romantic and like something out of a fairy tale. The boys looked very dapper and smart in their suits from Cookham Formal Hire. Hannah was wearing a Maggie Sottero wedding gown from The Bridal House. It was incased with lace and a beautiful diamante belt. Her veil was floor length and perfectly finished the look off. She looked stunning. The incredible photos of the day were taken by the extremely talented Emma of Emma Watts Photography. She captured the day beautifully and I noticed, (knowing the couple very well), that she captured their personalities perfectly, which added that extra layer of personal touch on their day.
Although I was the wedding planner for the day, I was also invited to the wedding as a guest, which was a first for me doing both at the same time. This meant that through dinner and drinks I would be popping in and out between courses to make sure that the evening suppliers had arrived. I settled them in, made sure they had everything they needed and worked with them and the venue to time turning the rooms around for the evening.
The Photobooth, Sweetcart and the band certainly kept the guests entertained for the reception. The band were amazing. They were from The Live Music Agent and had guests on the dance floor all night with their well-chosen set lists, this kept the party going well on into the evening. All I heard were good things from guests.
This day was really special for me and I can’t thank Mr & Mrs Lutteman, (Still sounds so exciting)! enough for letting me be a part of their special day, it is one I will remember forever.
I will leave you with the lovely review I got from the Bride herself:
“I hired Rebecca to help me with the details leading up to and on my wedding day. I am so glad I had her to help me through the whole thing and I couldn’t have done it without her. She was there for ‘the on the day coordination’, which meant I didn’t have to worry about a single detail on the day. Rebecca was so organised and I trusted her with all the small details. The day went off without a hitch! I would highly recommend!” - Hannah Lutteman.
Until Next time
